UserZoom Review: Get Paid To Make Impact on Products OR a Scam?

At some point in our life we have either criticized a product/service or better still have offered an opinion on how things would have been better if a certain aspect of the product is improved. You may probably have done it for free but do you know you can actually do this and get paid?

Well, UserZoom says that your opinion about products and services matters. Thus your spare time can earn you money while you do what you’ve naturally found yourself doing.

So if you’re here chances are that you’re interested in making extra income in your spare time and wondering whether you can trust UserZoom on this or it’s just one of the time-wasters who have nothing to offer you.

I can relate with your position so, in this UserZoom review, I will not only be providing you with in-depth information about them but will guide you to make an informed decision, maximize your options in making extra income just working at home and ultimately direct you on how to make passive income with the internet if you’re interested.

That sounds like a lot of promises, right? Anyway, let’s get into the business.

UserZoom Review content

UserZoom is a user experience (UX) insights company which recruits panellists for products and market research studies. The company was founded on August 2007 by Alfonso de la Nuez, Javier Darriba and Xavier Mestres and is headquartered in San Francisco Bay Area, Silicon Valley, West Coast in the USA.

They claim to have an all-in-one solutions platform that allows developers and enterprises to not only scale up UX research but speed up the process providing you with experienced panellist for quality work. In addition, they claim to provide service to six of the world’s ten largest public companies and thus have the good record that you can work with as a developer or researcher.

With its all-in-one solution strategy, you and I who want extra income can join their panel on the IntelliZoom platform where we can take part in the various tests. UserZoom provides insights to their customers by conducting Think-out-loud usability testing, online surveys, card testing, tree testing, true intent testing, click and timeout testing.

Participation in any of the above as a panellist can earn you some extra bucks.

How Does UserZoom Work?

UserZoom is a bridging platform that brings developers or researchers and testers together. Companies who want to conduct research to either improve a digital product or want quantitative and qualitative studies to clarify their expectations secure a contract with UserZoom.

To provide their customers with these insights, they create a panel of real users to remotely tests the product offering their opinions as they use. The whole process goes like this;

— You join the IntelliZoom panel as a tester filling your profile so that they can invite you for any studies relating to your interest.

— Before you start your real making money journey, you have to take a couple of practice studies which earns you no money. This is to ensure that you meet the minimum requirement for participating in their studies. They record 3 things during your practice: face, voice and screen.

— When a study suits your profile, an invitation email is sent to you. Following through the link, you answer some screener questions to make sure that you really fit the studies. Their system works on a first come, first served basis so you wouldn’t want to delay any bit if you get an invitation that’s you’re interested.

— After you’ve qualified, you proceed to the study which usually takes 10-20 minutes. The test results approval takes 3-5 days and you get paid through PayPal within 21 business days.

What Studies Can You Participate in?

UserZoom provides a number of studies on their IntelliZoom platform which comprises Think Out Loud(TOL) and other shorts studies.

Think Out Loud (TOL): This study record your voice and face which requires you to offer your opinion as you complete tasks on the websites. The whole concept of this is to get to know what goes on your mind while taking the study.

Non-think Out Loud: There’s no recording of your voice and face here. Examples of this study are Card Sort which requires you to organize a list of things into categories and Screen Short Click Test (SSCT) which asks you to click on some part of a given static image to see if you can find something.

Moderated Study: This study usually involves a researcher or moderator who provides guidance throughout the study. It may be one-on-one with the moderator or a group of participants with the moderator. Moderated studies are mostly scheduled in advance.

Diary: This study requires you to document your findings or thoughts on tasks you carried over a determined period of time. It is also scheduled in advance like the moderated studies.

Watch the below video to have a feel for the tests.

What Do You Need To Get Started?

First of all, you have to sign up on the IntelliZoom platform of UserZoom and you must be above 18 years. Before you start your practice studies on the platform, you should have the following in place;

  • A Personal Computer (Mac with OSX 10.11 or higher OR Windows 7 or higher)
  • Smartphone or Tablet ( It doesn’t support moderated studies)
  • A Working built in microphone
  • Webcam
  • A high-speed internet access
  • A standard internet browser program (Internet explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Safari)

How Much Money Can You Earn?

The amount you make here depends on the complexity and the duration of the studies you partake. For think out loud studies where you’re to record your face and audio, you can expect to earn averagely $10 for the 10-20 minutes you spend. This is far lower than Respondent which can earn you averagely $140 hourly for approved studies you partake.

Also, the standard surveys taken in UserZoom earns you averagely $5. This can’t make you rich if you’re looking to build a fortune with this system. The number of invitations you receive is dependent on your demographic so you can’t be certain on a particular number of tests a week. However, you can maximize your monthly earnings by trying a number of similar platforms like UserTesting, Userlytics, UserFeel, TryMyUI and User Testing Market

What I Like About UserZoom?

Although UserZoom can’t make you rich overnight or replace your main income stream, I like it for a number of reasons. Offering your opinions in exchange for money can’t be a business to draw your budget on but as an extra income attraction for your spare time, the following reasons are laudable.

#1. It’s FREE to join

#2 Good payment history

#3 You don’t need any experience

#4 PayPal Payment System

#5 The company has a good reputation

UserZoom Cons

UserZoom, like many other usability testing platforms, can’t be your reliable source of income. So, if you want to go down this road noting the following will be helpful:

>> You have to pass a screening test for every study

>> The number of invitations is not guaranteed

>> It takes a relatively long time to receive payment

>> If you’re uneasy going live during testing, then you wouldn’t want to partake

>> It’s targeted at USA and UK citizens

Is UserZoom a Scam or Legit?

UserZoom is certainly not a scam since it’s paying members for the number of tests that are approved. Considering the number of years of operation on the internet, it’s a legit platform to make extra income. However you can’t expect to be rich with this platform as your earning rate is low and inconsistent.

With that said you might want to try out PointsPrizes, Clixsense and TimeBucks if you want several options to make a consistent income.

Final Thoughts - Is UserZoom Worth Your Time?

UserZoom is legit and can put some extra bucks in your wallet if you have some spare time to burn but if you seek financial freedom, then you might want to think through whether it’s worth your time. The extra income you make on this platform requires you to actively engage yourself in the studies, being alert to notifications and striving to pass all screening tests with the hope to be approved after test results submission.

It’s sometimes fun and a fairly easy way to make money at home in your free time. Nonetheless, having a business that pays you now and days to come is a sure way to replace your main income stream or create a residual income. You might want to take a look at my #1 recommended platform that is helping me do that.

I also chased a number of platforms that virtually wasted my time while finding ways to make money with the internet until I stumbled on a training platform that thought me affiliate marketing.

Since then I’ve built my business which is making me passive income so I would encourage you to try out the training which is helping me create passive income part-time working from home. You can start yours for FREE and put your credit card away.
