Do you want to leverage your knowledge, experience or time for money and wondering what Respondent.io is about? Respondent says the era where your opinions, ideas or experience are shared freely without you being paid is passed. You can monetize whatever input you provide to any market research studies for a stipulated time as a professional or non-professional in any field. Is that really true or it’s a scam?
Well, that’s what I’m assuming you’re finding an answer to if you’re here. Not only would you find an answer to this but you’ll get in-depth information and analysis on this site for your decision making. Wouldn’t that be an awesome work at home or anywhere opportunity if it’s true?
Anyway, let’s find out!
Founders: Jack Pratten, Harri Thomas & Pierrick Ganon
Platform Type: Get Paid For Participating In Research Studies
Cost: Your time ($0.00)
Best For: People interested in exchanging their free time for money or work at home Mom or Dad
Overall Rating: 8.5 out of 10
Respondent.io is a platform designed to bring researchers and qualified respondents in one place. In other words, they provide a system that helps recruits, high-quality respondents, to participate in marketing research studies sponsored by researchers and receive compensation. They do that by verifying respondents occupation and demographic data to provide a targeted audience to researchers.
Respondent was established on May 2016 in Brooklyn, New York by the founders: Jack Pratten, Harri Thomas & Pierrick Ganon. Since then they’ve been a helpful tool for most researchers in gathering necessary data for their research from targeted customers.
They’re available to all countries and individuals who want to make side income and need not to be a professional of any field. However, you’re at an advantage if you have a specific skill in any field.
Like how usability testing platforms work, Respondent connects researchers and research participants. So they get marketing research studies offer and make them available to individuals based on their profile.
As a get-paid-to research participant, you apply to partake in studies that are suitable for you. In your application, you’re required to participate in a non-payment qualification test in order to be accessed.
The researcher/sponsor of the study reviews answers of applicants and sends invitations to those they think are the best fit. If you receive an invitation to participate, you choose a time that suits you from those made available by the researcher or complete the unmoderated test.
When you’re through with the study, you’re paid the advertised amount less a $1 or 5% fulfilment fee (whichever is higher). Which implies that if you partook a research study of an incentive $150, you’ll receive $142.50 through your PayPal. This fulfilment fee is used for the management of Respondent operations. It’s further broken down as:
Payment processing fee (2.75%): they claim to enable quick transfer of your payment that’s within 10 days
Service fee (2.25%): they claim it enables you to host your profile and help them manage data and research assignment.
The structure below gives you an overview of how it works.
To exchange your opinions, ideas for money you have to be a member by signing up on their platform with a social account. People from all walks of life are eligible ranging from Industry, Professionals, Parents and Students but should be 18 years and above. It’s required that you have the following;
- PayPal Email address
- Either a LinkedIn or Facebook account
- Phone number
They claim that signing up with your social account will help researchers to get access to your demographics for easy identification of target audience. As a data-oriented platform, I think the social account is not just to find only targeted audience but verify the kind of people that are taking part in the studies.
Do you have an issue with your social account linkage? Then you can try out Rewards1, PrizeRebel, Clixsense and PointsPrizes where you don’t have to worry about that. But if you’re good to go, then you can set up your Respondent account.
The amount you can earn here is unlimited depending on the availability of research studies and the ones you’re invited to. Nevertheless, you can browse active projects in your dashboard to view available projects. If anyone suits your interest then you go for it.
The amount you earn in participating a study ranges from $15 to $400 and even higher for 30 – 120 minutes of your time. Pretty high, right? You have to work to earn it because it doesn’t come so easily.
Averagely, you can make a decent $140 per hour for the participation which is far higher than most paid-to-click and get-paid-to opportunities. However, you’re not limited to that because when the invitations keep on coming, you can earn more.
This is one of the high paying survey sites that you would ever come across although it can’t make you rich overnight. Also, it requires active work to earn extra income working from home or part-time but I like it for the following reasons;
#1 It’s FREE to join
You can put away your credit card and sign up because all that is required is your social account and other details. This makes it a low-risk opportunity because you don’t lose anything other than your time.
#2 Awesome referral bonus
This is what I like best about Respondent. You can share a survey which you think a friend fits and that earns you $50 when that study is completed. Is that so? Yes! Not only that but you can share in your social accounts such as Facebook, Linkedin and Messenger.
However, these referral bonuses are not available for every project. So you have to take note.
#3 No minimum cashout
Like most opportunities such as PointsPrizes, Clixsense, CoinBulb, Ojooo WAD and Neobux, you have to reach a certain amount before you can withdraw your money. Here, there’s nothing like that. You receive your money within 10 days after completion even for the referral bonuses.
#4 Lots of higher-paying research studies
Professionals and high ranking officials like Doctors, Engineers and Managers can have several offers which come in at a higher rate. They’re mostly engaged in special case studies which pay more than the minimum amount like from $100 and above.
#5 It’s open to all countries
Although the company is based in the US it’s not restricted to citizens of that country only but internationally. Most survey sites are not like that. However, certain studies are required to be taken by US citizens.
#6 High pay rates
Their high paying surveys are rare to come by on the internet. And they pay too.
It seems Respondent has gotten all the green flags but here are some things to note before you complain if you decide to join:
>> Screening questions are required for any studies
Like UserTesting and UserFeel, you have to take some qualification test before you’re given the chance to undertake the paid research studies. This is because some of the studies are specific and need people with experience.
>> PayPal is the only mode of payment
Although PayPal is one of the trusted companies for most internet based business payment, not all countries have access to it. Respondent has no other payment system apart from PayPal so it automatically eliminates anyone in countries that can’t use PayPal.
Aside from your Facebook and LinkedIn accounts, there are no other ways of joining Respondent. So if you’re that sensitive to linking any of these platforms then you either have to give up on Respondent or trust them for your security.
>> Complicated studies
Some of the studies are not as simple as providing just your opinion. It may require Professionals who have command in that area. You might not have even heard of the subject matter so you can’t partake in all research studies.
As it’s my desire to give you authentic information, I’ve personally tried it myself to test the legitimacy and payment system. Apart from their support system which needs some improvement in service, payments dropped into my account as stated. It reflected in my account within the 10 days.
As you can see above, the left is from a studies I personally participated and the other is a bonus from a friend I referred. The studies I participated only took me 30 minutes video call and that’s a good money for the time.
The referral bonus is even far higher than what most people would earn on survey sites after long hours of active engagement. With this, I think it’s worth it to add to your income streams.
Respondent is more professional at the work they do and they’ve not only proven to be in existence for long but have gained trust from folks who desire to make money online. So with that said, it’s not a scam. A total legit platform to put money in your wallet if you have some time to burn for a decent extra income.
They’ve been paying as claimed and you can make a good income like $200 per week especially if you reside in the US. However, you have to note that systems like Respondent require active work in order to earn. So if you don’t mind then you can increase your options of making extra income online by trying UserTesting, Userlytics, UserFeel, Rewards1, PointsPrizes and Clixsense.
Yes, Respondent is legit and they’re paying but its time worth is dependent on your class as well as the kind of income flow you want to build for yourself. As an extra income job, the earning rate is far better to the best of my knowledge than most work at home jobs online.
Personally, as someone who doesn’t like putting all my eggs in one basket, I like it. Except that it requires active work.
I prefer letting my effort to continue paying for me in every investment I do today. I don’t know about you. I’m talking about building a business online that earns you passive income. Do you know about that?
If you’re interested in that, I’ll beckon you to check on my #1 recommendation or follow me to the training which is helping me build passive income part time working from home. You can start yours for FREE and put your credit card away.
